Sneak Peek!

Monday will be here soon.  As a reminder, we are working on symmetry and have a new book, Kaleidoscopes, Hubcaps, and Mirrors.  You were given a book and it is online.

We are studying two types of symmetry.  We have already studied line of symmetry or reflection symmetry.  Monday, we will begin looking at rotation symmetry.

Monday- lesson 1.2 , ACE p.15-16 (#1-#9)

 Homework:  ACE p.17 (#18, #19 )p.20 (#41-45), p.24 (#54)

We looked at our tests from Tuesday and went over problems.
We began working in our new Kalaiedoscope books.  It is available online at the 7th grade math school website.

The students worked on investigation 2.1 and learned new terms including:  line of reflection, line of symmetry, transformation, and reflection symmetry.

Homework:  If you didn't finish lesson 2.1, you need to finish it at home.  It will be due tomorrow.

Here is a the site we have been working with.  http://mathforum.org/mathtools/cell.html?co=g&tp=10.14.1&sortBy=&offset=0&limit=25
Click on the first line and check out the constructions.
We did three types of constructions.  The students can bisect a point on a line, line segment and angle.

Homework:  study vocabulary words for quiz on Friday

November 10th, 2010

We completed constructions 1 & 2. Students can construct a congruent line segment and angle.

Homework: make vocabulary flashcards
Bring a ruler to class.

November 8th, 2010

We are previewing our new unit in Geometry.  The next two weeks, we'll be working on constructions.  You may peek at the topic with this website:  http://whistleralley.com/construction/reference.htm

It is very important that you bring a ruler to class everyday the next two weeks.  We will use it for the straightedge and I will provide the compasses.

*I started out with a class set of rulers and now I only have 16.  The plastic ones break easily, especially when the student starts bending it.  The best rulers are the thick plastic ones that will not break when it is bent.  Any donations of rulers is greatly appreciated!!

Homework:  study vocabulary for test on Friday

November 5th

We reviewed with a jeopardy game with topics such as:  vocabulary, distributive property, relationship, equations, and expressions.  I answered any questions that they had on the review packet.  The final was taken the last half of class.

No Homework this week-end.
